Elephant seals
During the creation of this project, which was carried out between 2005 and 2008 in Península Valdés, a new way of looking at nature photography emerged. Although the training was in the arts, for many years image-making sought to capture a record of personal experiences.
However, from this project onward it became clear that the work was seeking to bring together art—its plasticity and foundations—with documentary photography.
The images were made on KODAK T-max 100ASA black-and-white negative analog film, which was later scanned for digital processing. The fine art paper prints were produced from the digital files.
As a technical and aesthetic goal, a small selection was made to produce internegatives for subsequent development as platinum prints.
The aim of the project was to bring together nature photography and art in order to portray marine wildlife using artistic resources. There is a personal belief that art is the best medium to reach the public and awaken feelings and emotions.
